Resource Sites

The Victorian Web
A vast resource for all manner of Victoriana. Highly recommended and very absorbing.

The Dictionary of Victorian London
Another site you will spend hours looking through. It is full of cartoons and detail of the time for seemingly every aspect of Victorian life. A snapshot of Victorian life in fascinating detail.

Victoriana.com
Not quite as useful as it first appears, but still a huge collection of detail and links for the Victorian era.

The Victorian Times Project
Another vast database site. This one contains a massive collection of articles from the time and as such is a brilliant resource.

The Costumer's Manifesto
A wealth of links for Victorian fashion for the costume enthusiast.

Wikipedia - The Victorian era
Take everything you read here with a pinch of salt as you never really know who the article authors are. However, Wikipedia is rapidly becoming a vast and useful resource.

Bodley
Internet Library of 18th and 19th century journals

The Royal Society
A large site containing many old scientific journals online

Victoria Station
A useful site full of detail and a certain amount of merchandising, but not quite as 'ultimate' as if professes.

A Victorian Elegance
Another costume site, but this one has a selection of clothes for sale.

Victorian Web sites
A useful page of links to more academic studies of Victorian life and culture.

BBC Victorians
Detail on Victorian children designed for children. However, as it is the BBC it is a reasonably reliable resource.

The Victorian Society
A modern group dedicated to the protection of Victorian architecture in Britain.
The society has a slightly glossier American counterpart here:

Mechanical Marvels
Pictures of 'real' robots invented and in use during the Victorian age!

Web Stories

Girl Genius
Phil and Kaja Foglio's tales of emancipated steam powered adventure

Ghosts of Albion
Amber Benson and Christopher Golden's excellent supernatural Victorian adventure series
There is also a BBC site here

Wondermark
Fabulous Victorian inspired cartoons

Other RPG sites

Castle Falkenstein
An old storytelling game that apparently is returning. Find out more from R.Talsorian's site, but also check out the GURPS version from Steve Jackson games

Etherscope
The matrix meets a strange Victorian dystopia. This game is produced by Goodman Games but Steam Power Publishing is producing works for it under licence.

Forgotten Futures
Marcus L Rowland's vast RPG setting of amazing futures that never were. Available on CD-ROM because too many trees would have to die to print it. Highly recommended.

GURPS
Steve Jackson's generic system has a wealth of books you may find useful. However, as well as GURPS Castle Falkenstein, you should have a look at GURPS Steampunk (and possibly GURPS Screampunk) as well.

Rippers
A dark and dangerous game with a heavy emphasis on horror. This game uses the 'Savage Worlds' system.

Space 1889
Voyage into space on ether flyers to battle Martians and defend the empire. This game has inspired a few audio dramas by Noise monster Productions.

Unhallowed Metropolis
Enter the new dark age. A horrible vision of the last century where a plague has brought the dead back to the fog choked streets of London.
